BloggersMag (b|m) team is very excited to introduce you to our new City Blogger, Fashion Accessories Blogger, Caroline Topperman of Style on the Side. Caroline has an amazing eye for accessories and enjoys from Vancouver, BC, Canada. She enjoys traveling and discovering new places, like her great eye for beauty products. And get this: she speaks three languages! Wow, we love this city blogger and we’re pretty sure you will too! Tell us what you think in the comments!

“I admire strong individuals who have many accomplishments and I think that she’s beautiful!”

Who
Caroline Topperman

Hometime
Vancouver, BC, Canada.

Do you speak any languages?
English, Polish, and French fluently.

Top  3 places you’ve traveled to?
Paris (of course), Spain, (I have a tie here: Figueras because that’s where Dali was born and Cordoba just because I loved it), and Morocco.

BM: Tell our followers what you blog about

CT: Mostly accessories (including home accessories) but I also love to include what I call Lifestyle posts. These might be coffee shop reviews, store reviews or really they can be about anything that I find wonderful and am dying to share with the world.

BM: What inspires your blog posts?

CT: My ideas come to me almost everywhere [I go], which is why I always carry around my notebook and camera.  My blog comes together on my trusty couch with my feet up on my coffee table.

BM: Why do you blog?

CT: I started [blogging] because I needed a creative outlet. My mom wanted me to be a journalist; instead I went to film school and got a degree in screenwriting. Then I abandoned writing for many years. After taking a social media course I finally found my voice and decided that I really wanted to return to this first love of combining images and words. After that everything just fell into place.

BM: When did you start blogging?

CT: It has actually been less than a year. My blog officially started sometime in June 2012 but it really came together in September so I’m using that as my official start date.

BM: Who is your Celeb Style Crush, why?

CT: This one is hard because I don’t really have one. I’ve never actually been one to obsess about a ‘personality’. There are many people I admire. When I was still dancing, Karen Kain would have definitely been my pick. Now I really love Isabella Rossellini. I admire strong individuals who have many accomplishments and I think that she’s beautiful!

BM: If you could have a super power, what would it be?

CT: I would love to fly. When I was little I used to have these dreams where I would jump off a mountain and just soar through the sky, I’d love to truly experience that feeling.

BM: What is your closet staple?

CT: A black v-neck t-shirt. I can wear it with everything and dress it up or down as needed.

BM: What is your favorite beauty product?

CT: My favorite… really? I don’t know if I can answer that. Okay I’m going to have to cheat on this answer just a little bit. The first thing that comes to mind is a great lipstick: red in winter, pink in summer.  Recently, however, I’ve been using Caudalie Beauty Elixir first thing in the morning and it has become something I look forward to everyday. It’s so refreshing and really wakes me up. I also find that my skin responds to it really well.

BM: If you were stuck on an island and you had to keep three things with you, what would you have and why?

CT: Assuming that I have fresh water and access to food….A journal and pen to record my experiences (maybe I’ll be the next Robinson Crusoe), some sunscreen, and my iPod with a solar panel as I always need some great music around.

BM: What are your favorite style tips?

CT: First, keep it simple.  Classic is always best but definitely make it your own. Find that special accessory you absolutely love, it will make any outfit look that much more special.

Second, don’t chase every single new trend. Instead, be selective and figure out what really suits you and your body. Take your time picking out the pieces (be it clothing or accessories) that you know will last.

Thank you Caroline for being such a great sport and allowing us to get to know you, we thoroughly enjoyed having you as our City Blogger!

Meet City Blogger of the Month: Zahra Sandberg

BloggersMag (b|m) team is very excited to introduce you to our City Blogger, Style Blogger, Zahra Sandberg of Love Zahra. Zahra is a smart, talented, and amazing design and style blogger from Chicago, Illinois. With a love for A-line skirts and statement jewelry, Zahra talks to us about her inspirations, her celeb style crushes (yes, she has more than one!), and most importantly, some very coveted style tips. (You’re welcome!)

DSC_0174 Who
I am Zahra Sandberg

Hometown
Chicago, IL (USA)

BM: what do you blog about?
ZS: I am a Style blogger [and] I blog about my interest in fashion and interior design. I post outfit ideas and interior design projects. As I am a budding stylist and interior designer, I occasionally spotlight my work for clients as well.

BM: Why did you start blogging, what was your inspiration?
ZS: Most of my friends and family don’t share my love for fashion and design. My friends are gorgeous and dress impossibly well, but they would rather discuss politics and current events than what they are wearing. Also, my full-time job (other than blogging, which also tends to be full-time) is in Business Development in the Manufacturing Industry. I found I needed a place to channel my creativity and share my love of style with other like-minded individuals, and that is how the blog was born!

BM: What has the experience been like for you?
ZS: It has been such a great experience so far, there is something magical about a group of people who are truly passionate about their blogs and take time out to do it. It really does take a lot of time and effort without a whole lot of ROI (return on investment). Bloggers don’t get paid a lot, if any at all, so it is really empowering and reassuring to know that they are doing it out of love.

BM: When did you start blogging?
ZS: Technically I started in 2010, that is when I made my “about me” page. Then I got pregnant…and it took another two years before I came back full force in the summer of 2012.

DSC_3802

BM: Who is your Celeb Style Crush, why?
ZS: Miranda Kerr is currently on the top of my list. She has an effortless style that is classic and feminine. I switch between her and Olivia Palermo often for the top spot.

BM: If you could have a super power, what would it be?
ZS: Easy, the ability to be in more than one place at once – so I can be at work, home with my husband and baby, and blogging at the same time.

BM: What is your closet staple?
ZS: An A-line skirt paired with a silk blouse and a pair of sky-high heels is my idea of the perfect outfit.

BM: What is your favorite beauty product?
ZS: I have so many! If I had to pick one, I’d say my recent discovery of an orange hued makeup primer. It really makes my skin look fresh even when I’ve had little sleep. Orange primer is great for darker skin tones.

Be confident in yourself and it will shine through no matter what you are wearing!

DSC_0518

BM: If you were stuck on an island and you had to keep three things with you, what would you have and why?
ZS: If it is material things only, I’d say my iPad (hopefully this island has a 4G network), my yoga mat to keep myself balanced and centered, and my Nikon D3100 camera to document the experience so I could blog about it later! I’ve really gotten into photography since I started blogging. I love capturing candid moments!

BM: Could you kindly share your favorite fashion and style tips?

  1. Find a silhouette that you love, that flatters you best, and repeat it in different colors and materials and you will never run out of outfit ideas. For example, I love a blazer, skinny jeans and a t-shirt – I can dress it up by wearing a printed blazer, leather leggings, and bright high heels, or dress it down with a boyfriend blazer with distressed denim and flats.
  2. Don’t buy things just because of the brand name. A friend of mine who is a big wig in marketing for a huge corporation told me some insider secrets about how prices are determined by some top brands. Check for quality of the material, the fit, and fabric before spending double or more on a bag or shoes.
  3. Take pictures of yourself! You will notice the colors that compliment you best and more importantly, what doesn’t work for you. One of my styling clients told me she did it and realized her outfit really needed a statement necklace. She was very hesitant to take pictures at first, but now she thanks me!
  4. Most important – be confident in yourself and it will shine through no matter what you are wearing!

Cozy, Confident, And Fashionable Trends For Fall

Guest blog post from Anya Sarre, Celebrity Stylist at ShoeDazzle.com.

As the weather cools, women flock to the stores and newsstands to catch a glimpse at this season’s most-desired trends. Whether you enjoy classic looks, patterns and shapes or love to dazzle and sparkle in flashy pieces, this fall’s hottest trends offer something for everyone.

Full-Skirt Dresses

The peplum-waist dress has been a huge trend for the last couple of years. While it will still be a go-to look for professional, classic women everywhere heading into fall, this style has a new competitor on the horizon. The full-skirted dress is an exaggerated A-line dress, and it is popping up on the red carpet in record numbers this season. The top of a full-skirt dress is fitted and sometimes belted. It is often adorned with ladylike, peter-pan collars and jewels. The dress begins its exaggerated flare shape at the waist, and it typically hits at or just above the knee. Full-skirt dresses feature bold colors, color blocking and glamorous patterns this season. Pair it with a cropped cardigan and a pair of ballet flats or pumps for a spotlight-stealing look. For cold fall /winter night out, just pair these dresses with tights or black stockings for sexy, cozy look!

Patterned Ankle Pants

Dizzying, fun patterns and bold designs are typically reserved for blouses or dresses. This season, the classic ankle pant gets a makeover thanks to bold prints and vibrant colors. Ankle pants with tapestry prints are being seen paired with slouchy ankle boots and boxy silk tops. Polka dots and hounds tooth prints are always classic, recognizable designs. Pair a classic polka dot or hounds tooth print pant with a ballet flat, a lace-trim tank top and a long cocoon-style cardigan for a look that will take you from day into night.

Chunky & Bold Knit Sweaters

Casual women everywhere are scooping up the chunky and bold sweaters in record numbers this season. Plush cashmere, nylon and wool sweaters are being combined with rabbit hair and other luxuriously soft materials that feel as cozy and comfortable as they look. Classic crew-neck styles, cable knit details and boxy shapes are all the rage this fall. Pair them with a pair of skinny jeans and tall-shaft boots for a balanced look. These sweaters also layer beautifully over tank tops in contrast colors and button-up Oxford shirts.

This season’s hottest trends will surely liven up the dreary cold months thanks in part to the various colors, textures, dimensions and bold patterns featured on this season’s hottest silhouettes for apparel, accessories and shoes.

2012 Fall Trend: Oversize Look

by Dana Cristina

Ladies who ever said size does not matter couldn’t be more wrong! This autumn, fashion is all about one size: Oversize! Apparently, the one rule that never seemed to age in fashion (”dress according to your size”) is, well, out of style in 2012 Autumn/Winter trends. And you can also put aside your mothers’ and grandmothers’ advice of always wearing clothes that fit!

From coats to jumpers to cardigans to trousers, fashion is going up one too many sizes. Whether it’s the cold season requiring more layering or just a fashion craze, Fall 2012 will have women all bundled up in cocoon coats, sweaters with puffy sleeves, huge & eccentric collars or big skirts & dresses. It’s a bit of ‘90s Kate Moss meets ‘70s Farrah Fawcett: sexy slouchy shoulders, high waist large trousers, big blouses, huge cardigans, oversized coats, jackets or shirts! And you can go either way: towards grunge style (which alone is a big trend this season as well) or a more classic elegant one.

Starting up as a street trend, pretty much ignored for years, the oversized style has finally caught up with the fashion designers in their 2012 Fall/Winter collections. The runways were flooded with big coats, trousers, skirts, tops in so many looks, styles and designs that we feel it’s never been this good! Jil Sander honored the classic elegant woman in big & beautiful coats in his best collection so far. Gucci went for opulent drama in sexy big trousers.

Sportmax, Chloe, Balenciaga, Moschino all chose and praised the oversize this season. Though to some it may come across as an uninspired trend, hiding away the woman’s body – we should nonetheless keep an opened mind and experiment. Models and celebrities are always seen in street style photos going for comfy and ill- fitted rather than body-tight. Seen it in Rihanna, Claudia Schiffer or Miranda Kerr who loves the oversized cardigans and coats.

Sure it may take a while to see Kim Kardashian ditch her fitted outfits, but one can hope right? And if this style may not be your cup of tea – remember you can still rock it by keeping in mind a few tips: pair anything oversized with something tight; use a belt; and accessorize to jazz it up and make it feminine!

Fall is about letting go, braking rules and choosing big over small. Could it be that women have had too much of body fitted clothes? Maybe fashion is going for comfy this time. Or could it be that we are finally witnessing a fashion revolution: the decay of size zero?

Spotlight on Tieks: Fashionable, full-time flats that fold

Get to know—

Tieks are made from 100% premium, soft, top-grain Italian leather. The upper of each pair of Tieks comes from a single piece of leather, and is designed to wrap around the foot for a slimming and elongated look. All of Tieks high-end leathers are custom made in Italy. Accenting each pair is the signature blue stripe and rubber patches. The back is cushioned rather than elastic to ensure each pair fits comfortably and is not too tight on your heel.

Celebrities are all over Tieks as you might imagine. Celebs like Oprah Winfrey for good reason. For every Facebook “like”, Tieks give $1 to Kiva. Kiva then loans the money to women entrepreneurs who don’t have access to traditional banking systems.Kiva is the world’s first online lending platform connecting online lenders to entrepreneurs.

The non-skid rubber patches and cushioned instep assure comfort with each step, so you can wear your Tieks all day, every day. The thick padding of the space foam cushion ensures a safe and comfortable heel strike.

Beauty is in the details—

Each pair of Tieks comes with a compact pouch to compress your folded Tieks when they are in your purse, and comes with a reusable tote for your heels and pant clips for pinning up your heel-length pants. When it comes to high-end ballet flats that double as fully portable shoes, Tieks have no comparison. The brown leather outsole on each pair of Tieks is treated and coated to be flexible, and yet more durable and sturdy than regular full-grain leathers.

So whether on your feet or in your purse, Tieks are designed to add flexibility to your lifestyle by ensuring comfort. The foldable split-sole design is compact and lightweight, making it easy to bring your Tieks with you anywhere when you are in heels. When you need to take off your heels, Tieks provide comfort without compromising your style.
